Royal Gorge & Sugar Bowl
Royal Gorge Cross Country Resort is back! The iconic 200+ kilometer trail system traversing 6,000 acres of pristine terrain atop Donner Summit will be fully operational this season under the new management of Sugar Bowl Resort, and Summit Station is buzzing with activity and excitement in preparation for the 2012-2013 season. Sugar Bowl Resort is dedicated to returning Royal Gorge to its place as the premier North American cross country resort, and has invested $500,000 in capital improvements, including a full renovation of Summit Station, a fully revitalized grooming fleet, new Fischer and Salomon rental equipment, and extensive trail improvements. Open and grooming 7 days a week, Royal Gorge is offering full rentals, expert lessons and ski instruction, food and drink, and most importantly one of the most extensive, varied, and beautiful trail systems anywhere! With easy access from Sacramento and the Bay Area, as well as Tahoe, Royal Gorge and Sugar Bowl offer the most snow in Tahoe, fewer crowds than you will find around the lake, and Sugar Bowl's continuing dedication to quality. In addition, this year we are offering designated dog-friendly trails and passes, and a new and expanded trail system connecting Sugar Bowl Resort and Royal Gorge's Summit Station through the beautiful Van Norden meadows.
